Turn In A Bad Paper - What College Students Turned In
Turn In A Bad Paper - What College Students Turned InIn the last few months, I have worked with some terrible papers. I worked for the Dean of the College of Engineering for several years and I see terrible papers every year. Not only was it bad for my office, but it was also pretty disturbing for the students who turned them in to me. I will describe some of the ways that papers turn out bad and why it is important for college students to be educated about the process of turning in a paper. One of the biggest reasons for turning in awful papers is because people do not understand what the assignment is all about. Usually, a student does not have much of an idea of what their work entails. Often they think that they just have to turn in a few problems or parts of an assignment to pass their class. When I worked at the engineering college, we had many problems with horrible papers because the students did not understand the instructions. Then when they submitted the paper, it got rejec ted and they were stuck with it.When a student gets stuck with a paper, there are several things that they can do to help them out: they can go through the paper and take out anything that does not need to be in it, they can modify the problems or parts of the assignment so that they match up with what the assignment actually asks them to do, or they can rewrite the whole thing in order to make it better. It really depends on the situation. Sometimes students just do not have the time to do any of these things. This is why we try to help students understand that there is nothing wrong with not doing all of the necessary things to get a good grade.Another reason for turning in terrible papers is because students do not understand how to format their papers. It is important that you always format your paper correctly. I always make sure that I always format the paper using the APA style guide. If you do not have access to theAPA style guide, then you should at least format the paper u sing the MLA style guide. The most common problem that I see with papers is that they are very wordy. You will not believe how many students do not realize how long a page should be. Usually, a typical paper will be around two hundred or more words. Students often make the mistake of just using paragraphs, which can be just as bad. You should make sure that you format your paper correctly or rewrite it completely.Students that turn in terrible papers often forget to get their names of sources. They will usually throw everything together on the first page without going over the entire paper. Papers should be analyzed and sources should be included at the end of the paper so that the student can check them out if needed.Last but not least, a student that turns in terrible papers often do not do all of the steps that they need to do to turn in a good paper. Most students do not actually get around to filing the paper, proofreading the paper, or revising the paper to make it better. Usua lly when you turn in a bad paper, you are so frustrated with the entire process that you just do not do anything else.I am convinced that this problem exists because many students do not understand that there is nothing wrong with turning in awful papers. They think that there is no way to turn in a good paper. If you turn in a bad paper, you are no better than someone who turns in a bad paper!
